Striking resemblance
Is it worth mentioning that Cloyster's face and inner body bears a striking resemblance to Gastly?--Celebi96 15:57, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
Probably not.--Tmwps 08:28, 11 April 2009 (UTC) No, even though this is a month or so old. For future reference, no. I don't keep track of timestamps and all that.--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 13:27, 11 April 2009 (UTC)Body Slam
Cloyster can't learn Body Slam by TM in Yellow, and neither can Shellder. Can someone confirm this for Red and Blue, so it can be corrected on this page? - unsigned comment from Thomasdenhaan (talk • contribs)
Political Correctness Gone Mad?
Has no-one else noticed that Cloyster's face has been changed from black to purple in Gen IV? Could this be added to the Trivia section?Vuvuzela2010 23:44, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
I don't know. Cloyster's face is still black in some of its artwork. Including the recent Dream World art. --ケンジのガール 23:53, 20 November 2010 (UTC) Just seen the Dream World at & its pearl is indeed black I know there is a similar situation with Absol, which is commonly depicted as either being black & blue, & Nidorino, & Gligar, so it is probably not notable enough to be added. Vuvuzela2010 17:22, 24 November 2010 (UTC)Cloyster looks like a vagina
There should be something about this added to the page. It's a huge meme among the Pokemon fandom, and fan memes are mentioned many times on other pages on Bulbapedia, including somewhat off-color ones like HSOWA. Furthermore, Cloyster's vagina-shape has been acknowledged in-game in Heartgold/SoulSilver, with Young Couple Duff & Eda having an Onix and a Cloyster, a rather obvious innuendo. I see no reason this should not be noted on the page. My Golden (talk) 09:14, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
It's too inappropriate. HSOWA isn't as explicit as pointing out what cloyster looks like.--ForceFire 09:17, 13 July 2012 (UTC) Eh, I don't think so. I'm not even sure how notable HSOWA is nowadays, it was before my time. But we don't even mention Wotter or Pignite on Oshawott and Tepig's pages, or "Dennis" on Genesect's page despite their popularity. We mention Smugleaf on Snivy's article because it was once used in a magazine. I wouldn't personally call a Cloyster and Onix team "acknowledging" the resemblance. Honestly, if I saw genitalia that looked like an Onix, I'd run for the hills. ★Jo the Marten★ ಠ_ಠ♥ 09:25, 13 July 2012 (UTC) Well, you see, having a Pokémon that looks like a vagina is not just some crazy statement at all, considering its japanese origin. However, even though I don't consider a vagina a "bad thing" nor inapropriate, pointing out Cloyster's shape and resemblance is nowhere near notable. You know, we have people saying that Palkia's backsprites also look like a penis, but no one actually cares. hfc2X 06:04, 18 December 2012 (UTC)Possible counterpart to Starmie?
Should we acknowledge that Shellder and Cloyster, within X and Y, now seem to be rivals/counterparts to Staryu and Starmie, similar to Electabuzz and Magmar?
Both species evolve by water stone, both are partial water types, both are exclusively in the same single breeding group, and both evolutionary families are fished in the same specific locations. Your thoughts? - 050294 (talk) 07:25, 27 November 2013 (UTC)
Japanese Name Meaning
The name "Shen" comes from chinese folklore and means "a giant clam". It used to describe a shape shifting sea monster/dragon with the power to create mirages. Haven't found the meaning of "par" tho...- unsigned comment from Arielb (talk • contribs)
